1. Campaign Types
The application has three distinct campaign types: Live, Rotate, and Simulated campaigns. With the Live Campaigns, as its name suggests, you can display real-time lead or sales notifications to your customers. This is particularly useful for large-scale websites that have a sizable volume of visitors and purchases happening regularly. It would be unwise to use this campaign for low-volume sites as the software will keep circulating the same few names, which renders the social proofing ineffective.
The rotate campaign allows you to create multiple widgets and then rotate them at fixed intervals. This campaign is suitable for mid-level websites as it lets you use different sets of data. For example, you can start with a widget that displays the people who have opted in for your weekly yoga class, followed by one that shows how many spots are left in the class, and end the cycle by exhibiting the people who have bought products from you. The good thing is that the software lets you create an unlimited number of widgets so that you can run this campaign with varying gimmicks and time intervals according to your liking.
As previously explained, the simulated campaigns allow you to display fake data. In addition, you can use this campaign to show historical data. So, if you have had offline or one-off sales in the past, you can make use of the information gathered during those transactions to start things off. The simulated campaign is ideal for startups and low-volume websites that do not get a sizable daily sales tally.
2. Customizations
Customization options are aplenty with Provely. For one, the software offers about seven different widget templates, which range from thought bubbles to shaded-in, plain, or opaque rectangular and ellipse-shaped ones. Further, you can tinker around with the color palettes and the font color so they match the rest of your website. However, there is not much you can do to change the font itself. Furthermore, you can also remove the Provely branding from your pop-ups. This, however, comes at an additional cost.
Importantly, you can customize the verbiage of the notification text to make it as short or long as you want. What’s more, the software has a repertoire of 13 display languages. Aside from English, these include Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, Norwegian, and Italian. In addition, you can also choose to display your widget only to customers from a certain geographical location. These localization options are invaluable for businesses that have a worldwide clientele or are looking to do targeted marketing.
To draw more attention to the widget, you can also add animations such as a pulse or wobble effect, fade ins or outs, and flipping or rotating finishes. If that isn’t enough for you, you can also add a sound notification for every time the widget pops up, and the app has around eight sound options. Lastly, you can configure the display frequencies so that the pop-ups appear as frequently or infrequently as you like.
3. Data Collection
As explained earlier, the software works by first collecting and storing customer data. The software maintains a simple contact list of all your customers with their names, email addresses, the time they signed up, and their locations. Provely allows you to export this list so you can add it to an external autoresponder or email marketing list if you want. Each widget also gives you an overview of the number of total website visits, opt-ins, or purchases made according to its settings. These numbers can give you an insight into the state of your business and a glimpse into your customer’s psyche. However, since the app does not have a reporting feature per se, there’s not much more you can get out of this data.
